Chilling Discovery: Missing Supermarket Worker Found in Unthinkable Place After a Decade

Chilling Discovery: Missing Supermarket Worker Found in Unthinkable Place After a Decade

In 2009, a 25-year-old supermarket worker named Larry Ely Murillo-Moncada vanished during a blistering snowstorm in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He left his family home barefoot and hallucinating after reportedly arguing with his parents. His worried mother and father immediately alerted the authorities, sparking a search that would ultimately turn up no clues for a decade. The disappearance quickly went cold as loved ones scrambled for answers. For years, his family struggled to comprehend how a young man could vanish without a single trace into the winter night. The devastating truth finally came to light in 2019 during the decommissioning of the No Frills supermarket where Murillo-Moncada had been employed. Workers removing the large commercial appliances made a horrifying discovery. Human remains were wedged upside down in an 18-inch gap located behind one of the store's 12-foot freezers. Shockingly, the No Frills supermarket had remained open to the public until 2016. This meant that customers had been shopping just inches away from the man's decomposing body for roughly seven years without anyone realizing he was there. Investigators examined the remains and found no signs of trauma. Authorities concluded that the tragic incident was entirely accidental. They believe Murillo-Moncada entered the store after fleeing his home, climbed on top of the coolers, and accidentally fell into the narrow gap where he became trapped. The family speaks out after years of silence The discovery provided a grim resolution for the parents, who had spent ten years wondering about their son's fate. His father, Victor Murillo, spoke about the intense grief and the sudden shock of learning what had actually happened to his son inside the very store where he worked. Murillo-Moncada's father Victor Murillo. Credit: KETV "We went out to find him, my wife and I," Murillo told local US news outlet KETV after the discovery was made. "Another friend came to help me. We got up early and couldn’t find anything. It felt like the earth had swallowed him whole." The psychological toll of the decades-long mystery weighed heavily on the family as they processed the bizarre and tragic location of his entrapment. "Our heads are spinning, finding this out after so many years, and it is distressing. It makes us feel a lot of pain," Murillo added. Why the cries for help went unheard Many wondered how someone could remain trapped behind a freezer in a busy grocery store without anyone noticing. Police explained that the loud operational sounds of the supermarket equipment actively concealed the tragedy. The constant drone of the compressor units made it impossible for anyone to hear cries for assistance. "It's so loud there's probably no way anyone heard him," Sergeant Brandon Danielson told the BBC . Danielson, who was assigned to the initial missing person case back in 2009, noted the unprecedented nature of the containment. "We have missing persons all the time, but this is just unique," he stated. Featured image credit: Council Bluffs Police Department

Ed Harris' Shocking Return to 'Dutton Ranch' After Dramatic Exit Threats

Ed Harris will reportedly return to “Dutton Ranch” for its second season. The “Apollo 13” actor has “already has been picked up” for Season 2 of the popular “Yellowstone” spinoff series, sources told Deadline. The second season is expected to begin production Jan. 15 and, per the outlet, is currently being written with the actor being “kept in the loop.”Page Six has reached out to Paramount+ regarding Harris’ reported return.Ed Harris, seen above with Kelly Reilly on “Dutton Ranch,” will reportedly return for the show’s second season. Emerson Miller/Paramount+The actor, pictured here in Season 1, is said to be “in the loop” on the second season, per Deadline. Emerson Miller/Paramount+The “Top Gun: Maverick” actor, 75, previously divulged he’d had a bad experience filming the show’s first season — and even threatened to step away.“Midway through this first season, I was ready to go; I said, ‘Get me the f–k out of here,’ to tell you the truth,” Harris told Variety at the Los Angeles “Dink” premiere Monday. “Because I didn’t feel like I was being used.”The four-time Oscar nominee added that he felt “a little bit misled” about his character, Vietnam veteran and veterinarian Everett McKinney.“Prior to signing on for it, I was talked to quite a bit about what the season was, and what my character was going to do, and that I was one of the four main characters. And that wasn’t really the case,” he explained.Harris recalled telling producers he was “feeling underused and inconsequential.”Harris, shown here with co-star Annette Bening, previously said he felt “underused and inconsequential” on the series. So there’s a scene in there… I’m talking to Kelly [Reilly] at the bar and Cole [Hauser] comes in and says ‘OK, Everett. C’mon, it’s your turn.’ I walk up to the mic and they cut it. They cut the song out.”Harris told the outlet the show deemed the scene “too up for the dark ending of that episode,” and — to him — that “was reason enough to say, ‘I’m voiding my contract.'”“I [was like], ‘F–k you people,'” he added. “That’s all I’ve got to say.'”Harris, pictured here in 2022, said he felt “misled” about his character, Vietnam veteran and veterinarian Everett McKinney. GC ImagesSeason 2 is set to begin production on Jan. 15. Harris is shown here in a still from Season 1. Emerson Miller/Paramount+Ultimately, Harris admitted he was satisfied with the final product, saying it was “pretty good” when he watched it.“I felt fine about what I did in it, and it seemed like I was relatively important to the story, but the doing of it did not feel that way,” he added.“Dutton Ranch” — which also stars Reilly, Hauser, Annette Bening, Jai Courtney and Finn Little, among others — premiered May 15 on Paramount+ and aired its finale July 3.The streamer renewed the Taylor Sheridan series for a second season on June 24, lauding its status as the biggest original series launch in Paramount+ history. Man Behind Trump at Rally Does Something Unbelievable

Man Behind Trump at Rally Does Something Unbelievable

A man sitting behind President Donald Trump was seen mimicking him during a rally in Georgia on Wednesday.Footage appeared online of the unidentified man mouthing Trump's words and imitating his hand gestures on several occasions during the rally at Wheeler High School in Marietta, Georgia. Trump was in the Peach State on Wednesday to promote Trump accounts and to drum up support for Republican candidates in upcoming state elections. At one point during the rally, Trump said: "More money is being invested in the United States right now than at any time in the history of our country, and Americans are working today more so than ever before today."...The man—who wore a black suit with a white shirt and pink tie—began copying the president, mouthing his words and moving his hands. The man also frequently applauded the president’s remarks, recorded footage on his phone, and spoke with the person next to him. At one point, he held up a placard that reads "Trump Accounts."It is unclear whether the man is a supporter of Trump or not.Numerous social media users responded to the clips posted online. "Pretty funny, tbh. Everyone is so serious all of the time & even as a Trump supporter, I can find this funny. Now, idk who that guy is or what his goal was but regardless of his political beliefs, he nailed Trumps hand gestures," one X user wrote. "I'm sure he'll get hate from both sides."Another user, JD, wrote: "This made me laugh out loud and I voted for him. Well done whomever you are."One user, posting under the name Floydie, wrote: "Question is whether he's a fan who want to be like Trump? Or is he someone who hates Trump? Best guess...he knew he'd be on camera and wanted his 15 minutes."...Trump's Appearance in GeorgiaThe president traveled to Georgia on Wednesday, a politically competitive state with closely watched Senate and gubernatorial races, to promote his newly created "Trump Accounts" and campaign for Republican Representative Mike Collins in his bid for the U.S. Senate and Georgia Republican gubernatorial candidate Rick Jackson. The centerpiece of the event was the administration's new investment program, launched earlier this month, which establishes tax-advantaged accounts for children under 18. Every child born between 2025 and 2028 will receive an initial $1,000 contribution from the federal government.Trump also used the rally to back Collins, calling him one of the most "highly respected" members of Congress, while criticizing his Democratic opponent, Senator Jon Ossoff."You have to vote for Mike because he is running against Pee-wee Herman," Trump told attendees. "He will bring a lot of action back to your state.…Vote for Mike."Collins was not present at the rally because he remained in Washington for congressional votes.Ahead of Trump's remarks, several administration and state officials promoted the Trump Accounts initiative. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent described the program as the "triumph of capitalism over socialism.""For too long, many have felt the American dream is slipping into the past—not anymore," Education Secretary Linda McMahon said. "Under President Trump's leadership, we are opening every possible pathway to pursue that dream again."Jackson pledged that, if elected, he would ask the state legislature to match the federal government's $1,000 contribution to each child's Trump Account. If lawmakers declined, Jackson said he would personally provide the matching amount.Jackson is the founder of medical staffing company Jackson Healthcare. According to Forbes, his net worth is around $1 billion.Trump Accounts launched on July 4. In addition to the federal government's initial $1,000 contribution, parents, relatives, friends and employers will be able to contribute up to $5,000 annually to the accounts. The funds will be managed by a parent or guardian until the child turns 18, at which point the account holder will take control and be able to use the money for expenses such as higher education, purchasing a home or starting a business. "For decades, Washington politicians gave our children absolutely nothing but debt," Trump said. "But the Trump accounts, we’re finally seeing and ensuring that every young American gets a great start in life and a really fair shot at the American dream, which is what we all want. They all aspire to that."According to the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget, the federal government's $1,000 seed contributions are expected to cost $17 billion through 2028.Contact Newsweek editors on this story: Matthew Robinson and Tony Phillips

Cruise Adventure Turns Nightmare: What Happened to This Woman?

Cruise Adventure Turns Nightmare: What Happened to This Woman?

A woman was left needing multiple surgeries after an emergency evacuation, following a day out during a cruise . Kirsten Lindsey was on a Carnival Cruise when it docked in Honduras , and she decided to go on an excursion involving rope swinging. Unfortunately for the Louisiana woman, the adventurous activity would leave her in the hospital with genital trauma. The risk is always there with outlandish activities such as this one, but many wouldn't have expected this one to become as severe as it has. Kirsten was only on the third day of her first cruise when she suffered a "catastrophic saddle injury" after swinging on a rope. Together with her boyfriend Blake, the couple needed to fork out tens of thousands of dollars to receive the specialist medical treatment required, as per WFLA . Kirsten Lindsey required medical attention after her condition worsened. Credit: Jeff Greenberg / Getty Kirsten Lindsey's worsening injury Blake recalled that the retrieval line was improperly connected to the rope, becoming caught between Kirsten's legs as she swung over the water. He recalled: "The line suddenly tightened between Kirsten’s legs just before she dropped." While it first appeared as nothing more than a scratch, it swelled up to the size of a baseball within hours, causing immense amounts of pain. Kirsten would spend over 12 hours in the ship's medical center receiving treatment, which set the couple back around $4,000 before they could leave. To get her back to the US for further treatment, they would need to spend even more money, after deciding not to spend the rest of the cruise in the ship's medical facility or going to a hospital in Mexico. The couple chose to pay for an emergency air evacuation, which set them back around $20,000 simply to leave Costa Maya. It would then cost $30,000 to get back to the US, as Blake explained: "We chose the air evacuation because we believed it was the best way to get Kirsten the care she needed." Kirsten was airlifted back to the US for further treatment. Credit: Glasshouse Images / Getty Kirsten underwent surgery After hours of delays, the couple ended up at HCA Florida Aventura Hospital, where Kirsten had her first of at least two surgeries. Genital trauma is scary, and it is a risk with activities such as rope swinging, despite how innocent and fun it can look from the outside. Following the incident, a spokesperson from Carnival Cruise Line has provided a statement to the publication. They said: "We are aware of reports regarding a guest who was injured while independently exploring Honduras. "After returning to the ship, the guest was promptly cared for by our onboard medical team, which provided treatment and facilitated access to additional medical resources. "While the incident did not occur on a Carnival-sponsored excursion, we remain concerned for the guest's recovery. The safety and well-being of our guests is always our top priority," they concluded. Charlize Theron's Unexpected Remarks About Matt Damon Stun Fans

Charlize Theron's Unexpected Remarks About Matt Damon Stun Fans

Charlize Theron made an admission about her time on set with former co-star Matt Damon and how she had to suppress some thoughts about him. The South African-American actress has never been shy about sharing her thoughts with the public , having opened up about her liberating new dating life since her divorce. But the mom-of-two has now taken this a step further , directly speaking about one of her Odyssey co-stars and the shape they were in. Matt Damon is known for starring in some of the biggest films of the last three decades or so, from Good Will Hunting to the Jason Bourne film series and The Martian. But one thing about the 55-year-old that isn't spoken about much is his appearance, and Theron made sure this didn't go unnoticed. Speaking during the film's recent world premiere in London, Theron didn't hold back. Theron praised Damon and his physique. Credit: Dave Kotinsky / Getty Charlize Theron on Matt Damon's "incredible" body Theron, 50, was asked about "the shape" that Damon was in for The Odyssey, Christopher Nolan's latest film, and she was candid with her reply about her married co-star. “I made this movie with him… I’ve seen him without all of that suit on,” she told Entertainment Tonight . She took a moment to think before adding: “It’s weird. I’m, like, staring at him weirdly. I’m looking at his a**.” The Mad Max actress joked that she had to stop herself as she "shouldn't do that" as "that's just wrong," but further praised how "amazing" Damon looks. Theron plays Calypso, and Damon is Odysseus in Nolan's latest blockbuster, which hit cinemas last week, and it isn't the first time the pair have worked together. They starred in The Legend of Bagger Vance with Will Smith in 2000, and Theron told the Today show that reuniting with Damon was "sentimental". She explained: “We did the first take, and I just went, ‘Oh my God, we did this when we were babies, and here we are, two old humans,' “[He’s] just one of my favorite people... it’s rare that you get to do something like that, you know, to experience the same experience, like 30 years later, and with someone as great and as wonderful,” the Oscar winner admitted. She went on: “He’s just good people. He’s lovely people to be around, and we’re all so happy for him that he got this opportunity [to play the titular role]. A better man couldn’t have gotten it.” Matt Damon's physique was praised endlessly by Theron. Credit: Manoli Figetakis/Getty Images Matt Damon's marriage Damon started to date then-bartender Luciana Barroso in 2003, before tying the knot two years later. The pair have since welcomed three daughters, Isabella, 20, Gia, 17, and Stella, 15, and are going strong after over two decades of marriage. The actor also adopted his partner's daughter Alexia, 27, from a previous partner, admitting to People that family dinners are a "non-negotiable." Charlize Theron's dating life Speaking on Alex Cooper’s Call Her Daddy podcast in July 2025, Theron opened up about sleeping with a man in his 20s, despite being 24 years older. She explained: "I'm sounding very cocky here, but I think it's because I found this freedom in my forties, where I'm like, 'Oh my god,' so I just want to say this in perspective. "I've probably had three one-night stands in my entire life, but I did just recently f*** a 26-year-old and it was really f****** amazing and I've never done that and I was like, 'Oh, this is great okay.'" "Let me just say that 26-year-old is the luckiest f****** man walking on this god damn planet," Cooper responded. "He's walking different today knowing." "He is for sure is not, but thank you," Theron added. She also admitted: "I sound like I'm sitting here sounding like I do. So when I do, I'm like, 'Oh, f*** yeah, I should have done this in my 20s.'" Featured image credit: Dave Kotinsky / Getty

Use extreme caution,” an air traffic controller said, according to a recording of the audio transmissions obtained by CBS News. The anonymous tip, which was later deemed a hoax by Port Authority police, spooked and baffled the pilot who received the transmission from LaGuardia’s control tower as he was preparing to land. When the pilot asked the controller to explain what a MANPAD is, the tower explained it stands for “a manned portable air defense system.”“Basically, it was a report of a rocket launcher,” the controller added. A Delta Air Lines pilot approaching New York’s LaGuardia Airport was warned by air traffic control Tuesday to be on the lookout for a possible man-portable air defense system, or MANPADS, following a reported threat. Trump's Doppelgänger? The Viral Video That Has Everyone Talking

Trump's Doppelgänger? The Viral Video That Has Everyone Talking

A video of an elderly man walking behind Donald Trump has sparked rumors of a body double online. You could spend days watching and reading about conspiracy theories surrounding the US President , and there are no signs of them slowing down. Whether it be about the 80-year-old's health , his use of social media, or the long-awaited release of the Trump mobile phone , the public has numerous questions for Trump. But upon the President's return from the World Cup final, where he once again stayed on stage during the trophy lift, a video of him speaking with the media has gone viral. The clip shows an elderly man who looks strikingly similar to Trump, who is seen walking behind him, away from the camera. Before anyone gets carried away, though, that man isn't a body double. Rumors have circulated, claiming that Donald Trump has a body double. Credit: X Who is Trump's "body double?" The video raised questions, but they can be answered just as quickly - the man caught on video is Viktor Knavs, the father of First Lady Melania Trump and Trump’s father-in-law. Their similar appearance and walk could be attributed to the fact that Knavs is just two years older than Trump. You'd be forgiven for mistaking them at first glance, especially with his swept-back hair, dark suit and familiar build similar to that of his son-in-law. But the President has never hidden Knavs from the public, as he has been seen at several public and private functions over the years, including events held at Mar-a-Lago. But the video didn't provide context, leaving viewers' minds to run amok, as there is no existing evidence to suggest that Knavs has ever acted as Trump's double. This isn't the first time the men have been confused for one another, so it may be time for Trump to switch up his wardrobe to stop conspiracies from running wild. Social media reaction Viewers couldn't believe it, with some claiming that world leaders have several body doubles and this should be common knowledge. One claimed: "ALL world leaders have multiple body doubles," with another adding: "Omg…he walks with his head tilted forward the very same." But others realised who it was early on, as a different user explained: "That’s Viktor Knavs, Melania Trump’s father. It does resemble him from certain angles." A fourth added: "I think that may be Melania’s father. Weirdly." Others started to speculate about whether world leaders such as Vladimir Putin and Benjamin Netanyahu had body doubles, but as with most things on social media, these were claims made with no evidence. Knavs may not be Trump's double after all, but they ought to walk further away from each other for the benefit of the US public, and to avoid the reminder that they are almost the same age. Hidden Danger: Mom's Photo Reveals Terrifying Threat Inches from Her Kids

Hidden Danger: Mom's Photo Reveals Terrifying Threat Inches from Her Kids

A mother's innocent picture of her two young children enjoying a walk through the Australian bush has left thousands of people horrified after viewers spotted a terrifying hidden detail. At first glance, the snap showed two siblings holding hands as they walked along a quiet dirt track near Eskdale in Victoria's northeast. But when their mom looked back through the photos the following day, she noticed a large eastern brown snake lying directly across the path. Even more alarming, the reptile was only centimeters away from her young son's foot. The snake was just centimetres away from the boy's foot, and the family had no idea. Credit: Facebook According to Snake Catcher Victoria 's Barry Goldsmith, the mom was shocked when she realized how close her family had come to danger. "She looked at the photos and then realized that the kids were right next to a snake," he explained, per Yahoo . After the photo was reshared online, many people said they couldn't see the snake at first. But once they finally spotted it, their reactions quickly turned to horror. "I genuinely felt sick when I finally saw it. That was way too close," one viewer wrote. Another commented: "My heart absolutely dropped. I had to zoom in three times before I noticed it." Others pointed out how fortunate the family had been. "They were unbelievably fortunate that the snake stayed calm," one person said. A second chimed in: "This is such an important reminder to stay alert, especially with children." The eastern brown snake is considered one of Australia’s most venomous species. Credit: Kristian Bell / Getty Expert says snakes don't want to attack people The eastern brown snake is known as one of Australia's most venomous species and is responsible for more snakebite deaths than any other snake in the country. According to the Australian Museum , its venom can cause paralysis and severe internal bleeding if left untreated. Although the picture of the kids appears terrifying, Goldsmith said it also highlights a common misunderstanding about snakes. He explained that snakes generally prefer to avoid humans and only become dangerous when they feel threatened. "Generally speaking, they'll move off when they see you coming, but this one obviously wasn't too worried about it," he said. He added: "Snakes don't attack people, no one has ever been attacked by a snake. The snake's always defending itself." "They're not really aggressive animals. All they've got is an instinct to fight or flight, so they don't want to have anything to do with us." Goldsmith also applauded the children's clothing, saying long trousers can offer extra protection when walking through bushland. "Ideally, the proper footwear and long pants is a good idea. And educating the kids to look around," he advised. If hikers do come across a snake, he recommends calmly giving it plenty of space. "They can’t all be cute and fluffy!" he joked. Twisted Texas Sister's Shock Court Appearance: What Was Seen?

Kitty Diaz — one of the three young Texas women charged with butchering a mother of five — was seen in bright orange jail garb and hand shackles as she was hauled out of a courthouse Wednesday. Photos and video obtained by The Post show the 21-year-old alleged killer anxiously glancing around as deputies escorted her from the Val Verde County Courthouse into a sheriff’s van.Kitty did not make a peep or enter a plea during her hearing on first-degree murder and tampering with evidence charges, which stem from the broad-daylight stabbing death of 32-year-old Caroline “Caro” Peña during an argument in the small border city of Del Rio on June 25. Kitty Diaz was seen in bright orange jail garb and hand shackles as she was hauled out of a Texas courthouse and back behind bars Wednesday.  Michael Elizondo/Good CitizenAlthough a judge slashed her bond from $5 million to $2 million, that was apparently too steep for Kitty, who was still transported back to the local jail after the hearing. It was the first time the tattooed brunette appeared in court without her sister, 19-year-old Amaya “Cookie” Diaz, and their friend Kyandra Renee Faz, 21 — who are also charged with murder for the fatal attack. The trio was caught on surveillance video repeatedly stabbing and beating the helpless mother — before the twisted sisters allegedly scrambled to cover up the brutal crime, according to cops. This sickening footage shows Kitty clad in a pink tank top paired with blue jeans, while her younger sister was seen wearing a red tank top and blue jeans, according to a criminal complaint filed in the case. The 21-year-old alleged killer anxiously glanced around as deputies swiftly escorted her from the Val Verde County Courthouse into a sheriff’s van Wednesday afternoon. Facebook/Caro PeñaThe sickening clip shows a barefoot Kitty — wearing tight black shorts and a halter top with an illustration of white hands cupping her breasts — grinning at the ground as two officers escorted her into a patrol car parked on the street. Her similarly scantily clad younger sister appeared to put on a show for the camera, brazenly flashing her pearly whites and giggling after sarcastically yelling at the man behind the camera, “Stop recording!”Faz told investigators that Peña had “arrived at her residence looking to start a fight” — but was soon met by the sisters, who drove up to the home in a black Chrysler 300, the criminal complaint states. The surveillance footage shows Cookie fly out of the vehicle’s passenger seat and confront Peña — while holding an object believed by cops to be a knife in her right hand, according to the court document. Cookie is then seen in the clip striking the mother in the back, where blood begins soaking her shirt, the doc states. Kitty’s sister, 19-year-old Amaya Cookie Diaz, and their friend Kyandra Renee Faz, 21, are also charged with murder for the fatal attack. City of Del Rio Police DepartmentThat’s when Kitty and Faz jump in — allegedly beating Peña, the complaint continues. The beloved mother later succumbed to the stab wounds at a hospital in San Antonio. Del Rio police have not yet offered a motive for the alleged attack, or revealed the nature of the defendants’ relationship with Peña.Cookie and Faz remain behind bars on $5 million bond each. It was not immediately clear when the three defendants will appear in court next.
