Why Everyone's Talking About 'Symbiosexual' Attraction

Now more than ever, more people are coming out as 'symbiosexual' - and we're not surprised. Sexuality is a complex aspect of human identity, influenced by a wide range of biological, psychological, social, and cultural factors. It is not simply about sexual orientation or behavior but encompasses desires, attractions, emotional connections, and personal experiences that can change over time. People’s understanding of their own sexuality can be fluid and influenced by their environment, upbringing, societal norms, and individual life experiences. Cue symbiosexualism. Love triangles have been a staple part of narratives throughout storytelling history, but scientists now believe that this has influenced an entirely new sexuality. A new study by researchers at Seattle University has identified that 'symbiosexual' people are attracted to the energy between established couples rather than between themselves and one other person, bringing a whole new meaning to the more, the merrier. Symbiosexualism is a newly researched sexuality type. Credit: Maskot/Getty This type of sexuality is described as "attraction to the energy, multidimensionality, and power shared between people in relationships," as per a definition provided by the Archives of Sexual Behavior when discussing a previous 2023 study titled 'The Pleasure Study.' The study, which surveyed 373 participants about aspects of their sexual and gender identity, also found that a large portion of participants in the study actually felt romantic and sexual attraction to the “synergy” of a third person being thrown into the mix. And in a world filled with open relationships and sexual freedom, we're not surprised. Credit: Visoot Uthairam/Getty Speaking of the outcome, Dr. Sally Johnston, an adjunct professor of anthropology and sociology who conducted the study, said: "We need to rethink the nature of human attraction and desire as only one-to-one experiences." Further research into the topic found that there was a "lack of recognition and validation for this attraction," even within the polyamorous community and this often led to the mistreatment of the third person within the relationship. The findings of the studies mentioned above allegedly "push the boundaries of the concepts of desire and sexual orientation in sexuality studies and challenge the ongoing invisibility and invalidation of and stigma and discrimination against such attractions," according to Dr. Johnson. In an interview with the PsyPost, the researcher revealed that she was first interested in delving more into the unique sexuality after "[hearing] people talk openly about experiencing attraction to established couples." "I wanted to learn more about this understudied attraction," she added. One participant, referred to as 'Hayden', said that she was attracted to couples because of "their cohesiveness." "You feed off their energy, their attraction to each other… there’s an interplay between the couple," she added. Another participant, called 'Sage', also added: "I also just want to be smack in the middle of that relationship. I would also like to be included in this relationship... I really think my ideal dynamic might be myself and a couple." While there is not much research out there about this particular desire currently, we're sure there will be much more over the next decade as sexuality continues to broaden. Mango for NY Post“So NYC makes the capital decisions while someone else pays for the consequences,” said the businessman.Other bizarre choices highlighted in the plan by Kokonas included the stated goal for the supermarkets to offer a “limited” variety of foods – while also carrying kosher, halal, vegan, dairy-free and diabetic options. He also noted that the subsidized “Core Basket” of goods — items to be offered at 30% below market price, according to City Hall — could include “chicken salad, egg salad, potato salad, fruit salad and other deli-prepared foods.”But the stores won’t have food preparation on site or a deli counter, according to the RFP, so “you’re going to ship them in every day prepared. Gotcha…,” Kokonas wrote.Also eyebrow-raising, City Hall recently confirmed ID will not be required to shop — meaning anyone, regardless of income or residency, can purchase the taxpayer subsidized groceries.“No means test. Sahar Tabar, whose real name is Fatemeh Khishvand, is a 25-year-old Iranian woman who became one of the most talked-about people on the internet after posting a series of photos on Instagram that made her look like Jolie had been dug up and reanimated. Sunken cheeks, hollow eyes, a skeletal face that launched a thousand headlines about 'botched plastic surgery' and '50 operations gone wrong'. None of that was true. She used makeup and Photoshop - pretty simple really when you think about it. However, the Iranian government didn't see the funny side, and what happened next was about as far from funny as it gets. In October 2019, when she was 18, Iranian authorities arrested her as part of a crackdown on social media influencers. She was charged with blasphemy, inciting violence, encouraging youth corruption, and gaining income through inappropriate means. Iran has some of the strictest internet censorship laws in the world and routinely targets people who are seen to be promoting things it doesn't like. In December 2020, she fell foul of those strict rules and was sentenced to 10 years in prison. 10 years, all for posting edited photos of herself on Instagram. While inside, she caught Covid-19 and was reportedly put on a ventilator. Her lawyers pushed for her release on medical grounds. A judge refused that appeal, leading Iranian journalist and women's rights activist Masih Alinejad to publicly call on Angelina Jolie herself to intervene, writing that Tabar's mother 'cries every day' for her daughter. She was eventually released on bail in mid-December 2020, having served around 14 or 15 months. Alinejad confirmed the news on Twitter: "Today Iranian teenager who posted heavily distorted images of herself online and was jailed for 10 years has been freed after massive media pressure." After her release, Tabar appeared on Rokna, an Iranian state-owned media channel, and showed her real face for the first time. People were genuinely shocked. She looked like a completely normal young woman. She had no skeletal features, no sunken cheeks, and - crucially - nothing remotely zombie-like. Again, most people figured that way before, but it's still a bit of a shock. She explained on the programme that her mother had told her to stop posting the images but she hadn't listened. "Sometimes the words of a stranger or a friend can be more important than those of a parent," she said. She described her posts as a 'vulgarity' that helped her become famous, but said she would not be going back to Instagram. "I would not even put Instagram on my phone anymore," she said. The interview left viewers stunned . "Omg it was makeup thank god," one wrote. Another said: "Wow! It's so sad what lengths people would go to for fame. They should have tackled her body dysmorphia rather than an uncalled-for prison sentence." Tabar's real appearance has come as a surprise. Credit: YouTube/Rokna Was any of it real? For the most part, no. In a 2017 interview with Russian outlet Sputnik before her arrest, Tabar had already admitted the images were created using makeup and digital editing. She said she did it to 'amuse' herself. "Now I can see that I have something in common with her, but I amuse myself, and to look like someone is not my goal," she explained. "Over time I post a photo, I make my face more fun and funny. It is a form of self-expression, a kind of art." She did have some cosmetic work done. A nose job, lip fillers, and liposuction have all been confirmed. But the full zombie look that went viral was makeup, lighting, and Photoshop. The '50 surgeries' story that circulated at the time was never true. Where is Sahar Tabar now? She deleted her Instagram profile in 2019 before her arrest. Iran has since banned Instagram entirely, along with Facebook, X, and most other major Western social media platforms. Tabar has not returned to public life in any significant way since the Rokna interview. She would now be 25 years old. Whether she is still in Iran, still subject to the conditions of her bail, or has moved on entirely from the persona that made her famous and then cost her over a year of her life is not publicly known. What is known is that an 18-year-old girl posted some edited photos of herself on Instagram, went viral, and was arrested by her own government for it. She spent over a year in prison, caught Covid, came out the other side, showed the world her real face, and said she was done with social media for good. Dr. Gurbanova also praised the collaborative effort behind the outcome, writing: “This result is the fruit of strong teamwork, precise planning, and patient cooperation." BSSO, or bilateral sagittal split osteotomy, is a procedure used to reposition the lower jaw, while a Le Fort I osteotomy involves moving the upper jaw. Genioplasty is surgery performed to reshape or reposition the chin. Dr. Gurbanova has performed hundreds of orthognathic procedures throughout her career and is among a growing number of specialists working in the rapidly expanding facial surgery sector, which has become a multi-billion-dollar global industry. But Mah dismissed the claim, telling Newsweek that Taele is a biological male.Conservative attorney and Trump ally Mike Davis posted to X on Tuesday in reaction to Taele's arrest, saying, "Jeanine and 'his'? Hmmmmm."Taele was also wanted by the El Segundo, California, police department in a robbery investigation. Mah told Newsweek that the El Segundo force put out a watch in a California database and that when Taele was booked, it alerted the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department that there was a watch out on him.Mah said the department then notified El Segundo that Taele was in custody. Authorities reported finding numerous firearms, ammunition, body armor and notebooks containing what officials described as "concerning statements," CNN reports. My office, along with @FBILosAngeles and @LosAngelesATF, is reviewing the evidence and will provide more information when possible."The incident comes amid an already heightened security environment surrounding Trump following previous threats and attempted attacks targeting him. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said there is currently "no credible threat" to the surrounding community.Taele's bail has been set at $250,000 by a Los Angeles County judge, Fox News reports. He has also been ordered not to possess weapons, has been barred from Trump National Golf Club and is prohibited from leaving California while the case is still pending, the outlet adds.Details on Taele's Arrest Deputies with the Lomita Sheriff's Station responded to the scene around 3:30 p.m. Sunday and first made contact with Taele, Fox News reports. During a pat-down, deputies said, they found a 16-round magazine loaded with hollow-point ammunition in Taele's pants pocket. 50 Cent has reignited his long-running feud with his eldest son after responding to an emotional offer from him with a savage social media post. The latest chapter in their public feud began when Marquise revisited the topic of child support. In an Instagram post, he shared a photo of himself sitting beside the word "entitled," spelled out using dollar bills. In the caption, he made an emotional offer to his father. "Since y'all think $6,700 is sooo much money someone tell my pops I will pay him $6,700 for just 24hr of his time so we can do everything I ever wanted to do with him as a kid. Red Yellow Green whatever colour he like." Marquise has previously argued that the $6,700 his father allegedly paid each month in child support was not enough given his wealth and profile. Speaking during an Instagram Live with Choke No Joke, he said: "$6,700 a month in… New York City, you do the math. "You're talking about a Forbes lister – you're talking about someone that has problems with everybody – you can't just live in any neighborhood, $81k is not a substantial amount of money. You can't just live anywhere. "You talking about you got beef with everybody in the industry, you can't just live anywhere." When the host suggested he could survive on that amount, Marquise disagreed. "Choke you gotta stop comparing it, you comparing it to yourself, bro, you're comparing it to your standard of lifestyle," he said. "You can't do that.
