Tragic Diary Revelation: The Heartbreaking Truth a Daughter Left Behind

A Spanish mother has filed official complaints with prosecutors after claiming a diary left behind by her daughter identifies the men she says were responsible for a brutal sexual assault that changed her life. Noelia Castillo Ramos died by euthanasia in Spain in March 2026 at the age of 25, following a lengthy legal battle over her right to medically assisted dying. Her case attracted widespread attention across Spain after her parents unsuccessfully challenged the decision to allow the procedure. Now, her mother, Yolanda Ramos, says her daughter's personal diary contains details of the alleged assault and could help investigators identify those responsible. She has submitted complaints to public prosecutor offices in Barcelona and Tarragona, calling for a formal investigation. Diary handed to mother on day of death According to Ramos, her daughter gave her the diary on the day she died. After reading it, she decided to take its contents to prosecutors in the hope that justice could still be achieved. The complaints reportedly include allegations that Castillo was drugged, given alcohol, and raped by three men after meeting a waiter in the town of Salou, in Spain's Tarragona province. The alleged assault has not resulted in any criminal convictions, and the claims remain allegations. She didn't want the truth to die with her, so she wrote about who raped her, how it happened, and how those aggressions destroyed her life. "Today, those writings are in the hands of the prosecutor's office, because even after her death, justice can still be done. Share this video, so that no one can say tomorrow that they didn't know." Family seeks justice after years of legal battles Ramos also shared an emotional video explaining why she had decided to file the complaints. She said: "I am the mother of Noela Castillo. I have decided to denounce the men who did so much harm to my daughter. I do it because I feel that is what she wanted. Noelia spoke of the rapes on television. "And the same day she died, she gave me her diary, and when I read it, I understood many things. I feel that my daughter wanted the whole truth to be known someday. That is why I have decided to go to the prosecutor's office. Because I can't stand idly by. My daughter is not going to be returned to me, "And I do it for her. And also for other girls who have experienced the same thing, but don't report it. And that is not fair. I just want justice. It's the only thing I can do for my daughter, Noelia Castillo. That she will never be forgotten. Thank you for listening to me." Castillo had spoken publicly about living with mental illness and surviving two suicide attempts. The second, which she said followed a sexual assault in 2022, left her paralyzed and unable to use her legs. Spain introduced legislation in 2021 allowing euthanasia and medically assisted dying for eligible patients. Castillo's application was approved by a medical body in Catalonia in 2024, but her father challenged the decision in court. After nearly two years of legal proceedings, judges ruled that she could proceed with euthanasia. During one of her final television interviews, Castillo spoke about the disagreement within her family over her decision. She said: "None of my family is in favour of euthanasia, obviously, because I'm another pillar of the family. But what about the pain that I've suffered all of these years?"
