Share Post

Brian Austin Green got candid about how his marriage to Megan Fox was led by “physical attraction” while opening up about their 15-year relationship.

“My ex and I were together for almost 15 years,” the “Beverly Hills, 90210” alum shared on Sunday’s episode of the “I Do, Part 2” podcast.

“We were married for almost 10 years and I led with physical attraction,” he told hosts TJ Holmes and Amy Robach.

Green, 52, explained that he gravitated toward being “physically attracted to somebody and then sort of build a relationship around that.”

The actor and Fox, 40, tied the knot in 2010 and called it quits in May 2020 after welcoming three kids: Noah, 13, Bodhi, 12, and Journey, 9.

“I was divorced, which I didn’t expect,” he continued. “I had three kids. I was a single parent.”

Moving forward, Green knew that he didn’t want to “repeat” the past, so he ultimately decided to go to “therapy” and “really figure out what it was that [he] brought into a relationship that was just toxic and wasn’t good and wasn’t helping the relationship at all.”

During his sessions, the “Knots Landing” alum understood that he needed “be friends with someone first” before turning a relationship romantic.

“I think when you started from a place of a genuine connection with someone, then you’re not so concerned about whether they are truly into you or not,” he added, explaining that it allowed two people to communicate “in a very transparent way.”

Green shared that he adopted the new approach before meeting his now-fiancée, Sharna Burgess, 41, in December 2020.

“Sharna and I talked about our best qualities and our worst qualities together,” he said. “We sort of put it all out on the table.”

“Your approach to a relationship is the best way to know if it’s just a purely physical connection,” the actor explained.

“That’s only going to last for so long that you’re going to get to a point where you go, ‘I can’t stand that other person. So they’re not hot to me anymore.’”

Green and the “Dancing with the Stars” alum welcomed their son, Zane, in June 2022, and got engaged the following year.

Despite being separated, Green and Fox have maintained an amicable relationship throughout the years.

After splitting from Green, the “Transformers” star revealed she was dating her now ex-fiancé, Machine Gun Kelly, in June 2020. The exes parted ways in December 2024 after announcing they were welcoming their first child together.

Fox gave birth in March 2025 and has seemingly been able to co-parent their daughter, Saga, successfully, as they’ve since been seen on several joint outings.
